One of the best examples of this is the classic video game Lemmings. In that game, you have to lead a bunch of lemmings to their goal. They will blindly walk forward continuously without paying any attention to the obstacles around them. If you do not watch out, they could walk off cliffs or into traps, so you had to constantly change their course in order to keep them safe. In the whole game, you never have to do anything destructive, and yet I’ve never seen such an action-packed game. That again, a lot of good action video games do involve combat. The real-time strategy games are great examples of this. I guess they don’t narrowly fit into the action genre, but you can’t find something that really keeps you so on the edge of your seat as those games.

If you want to get a truly great assortment of brainteasers, you have to go to a good bookstore. There are plenty of online brainteasers, but if you are a big fan you probably need to just bite the bullet and buy a book. After all, it is nice to have a whole book filled with logic puzzles so that you can go through them, page after page at your leisure. The way that I do it is to download some free puzzles on the Internet to see which ones I like. Then, when I find a style that fits me, I buy a brain teaser book. I usually have two or three for a long road trip.

Whether or not you support educational learning programs, you have to admit that in some cases they make sense. Online math games, History programs, and other leading video games have their supporters, but almost no one can argue with free typing games. You see, typing is an almost purely mechanical skill, sort of like learning the musical keyboard, but without the art. The point of typing is to be able to do it quickly, accurately, and without thinking about it. Although you can take the old approach and type a long passages of boring text on the computer, you might find better results with a free typing game. Video games are great for making something that might otherwise be tedious into an enjoyable, educational activity.

A year or so ago I heard about suduko puzzles and within two or three tries at it I was hooked. It seemed as though overnight the world became obsessed with suduko puzzles even though not many of the obsessed were that impressive at the game. Within a few weeks you could find suduko books and hand-held games at Wal-Mart. How quickly we jump on bandwagons, huh?

A Sudoku puzzle will only have one correct answer so it is important that one places or writes down the best answer to one square. One wrong answer will start a series of wrong answers in other boxes. Remember that numbers in Sudoku puzzles are interconnected. One number will depend upon the surrounding numbers.

Sudoku, for those who still, do not know is a number game that calls for a player’s patience and logical skills. Though quite simple at first glance, the game can be mightily complicated. Each puzzle is composed of a 9 x 9 grid. The grid is composed of 9 columns, 9 rows and 9 squares with 9 small squares inside. The objective of the game is to fill up the squares with numbers, 1-9, provided that the numbers will only appear once in the column, the row and in the bigger square. This simple yet maddening rule makes the game ultra difficult and addicting as hell.
