What I was doing my Christmas shopping, I went on a hunt for PlayStation 2 accessories to see if I could give him the cord as a gift. I went in to no less than ten different stores that sell PlayStation 2 accessories and no one seemed to know what I was talking about. A few stores seem to have an idea as to what I wanted, but none of them had any in stock. I know how hard the new PlayStation is to get, so this is why I am baffled about why it is so hard to find this particular cord. I would think there would still be people who would want one.

But these days, used PS2 games are everywhere. There are no less than four stores in my area that specialize in reselling used PS2 games in mint condition. This means I always have a great chance of finding the titles that my son wants the most, and is usually my first stop when his birthday or Christmas comes around. Even if I can’t find the used PS2 games that I’m looking for at these shops, there’s no reason to despair. That’s because there are also plenty of websites and online auction sites that have a large inventory of used PS2 games on hand. If worse comes to worse, I can always count on one of these websites to have a copy of the title that I’m interested in purchasing. Sometimes, I even make these websites my first stop for used PS2 games because they’re often cheaper online than at the local stores. I wouldn’t order from a website just to save a buck or two, but occasionally these used PS2 games go on sale on websites for almost 20 percent less than what I’d have to pay in stores. Now that’s a deal I can’t pass up!

My son hates to read. He hates it with a passion and I’ve yet to find a book or magazine that interests him enough to want to read it. But video games? Watch out - he’ll be busy for hours! Of course, most video games have little to no value when it comes to learning but many learning games for kids take on a video game type of format that children love. My son has recently found some role playing games that have helped him with his reading. He doesn’t even realize that he is practicing his reading skills - and reading at a level that his teachers have likely never even considered him capable of - as he reads the instructions that enable him to get to the next level. Role playing games for children involve reading skills to figure out how to achieve tasks, math skills as they buy items in stores, and reasoning skills as they determine the best way to reach their goals.

The Super Mario Bros are one of the most recognizable pairs of video game characters ever created by Nintendo. When the first Nintendo came out in the mid 1980’s it was of course a huge success, but not right away. The very first Nintendo games didn’t immediately stand out from other games on the market for the already successful systems like the Atari 2600. It wasn’t until they released the game �Super Mario Bros’ that the full potential and capability of Nintendo’s first console system was realized, and only then did it become an icon of 1980s entertainment.

The Super Nintendo Entertainment System really blew me away when if first came out back in the early 1990s. The first Nintendo Entertainment System was amazing and groundbreaking in itself, but when the SNES came out it was really the dawn of the modern era of video games for me. The Sega Genesis and the Turbo Grafix 16 were already out, so the SNES was a fairly late arrival to the third generation of video game consoles, but it was worth the wait. Of the third generation consoles, the SNES was my favorite and I owned all of them. The SNES is the only one of the three I still sometimes play today.

When shopping for Christmas, birthdays, or other special events, you may have a hard time finding new games and toys. Some games and toys are advertised, and may seem appealing to your child, but due to heavy demand, these new games and toys can be hard to find. You should always make sure you shop early, and don’t forget to look online for that hard to find toy that has eluded you thus far.

When new games and toys come out on the market, they are often advertised heavily. If it is an especially unique game or toy, parents may go out in droves to pick it up for their kids. My daughter had her heart set on the V-smile learning system last Christmas, and because it is an educational toy, I decided it would be a good investment. I didn’t have a hard time finding it, but I did have a hard time finding the accessories.

I’ve also seen x box games for sale on ebay for less money than in the store, so sometimes I go there too. But the best way to get new games is to find someone else who has a good collection of x box games and trade with them, though you have to be pretty careful about making sure you get your games back. These days the only games I buy at the store are the ones I know I will get addicted to like Snowboarding and, of course, Dance Dance Revolution.

One thing I wish was that if I have to participate in silly team building games, that the rewards would be a little bit better. The prize for winning any of the games was always candy, so no one really tried very hard to compete. If they were giving away gift cards or cute tee shirts, people would probably feel less foolish about competing.
