By the time I was 13, however, I was ready for a more serious .. I had been practicing every day for well over a year, and even before that I was playing fairly regularly. Strangely enough, however, that never materialized and VR headsets vanished for a while. I think it was because of an inherent flaw in the virtual reality headset technology at the time. It was good by for the time, but by it was still kind of boxy. When I was a kid, I thought toy dinosaurs were the best. I was never interested in dinosaur toys until we went to the natural history Museum. We lived in a small town outside of Chicago, so going to the Chicago Museum of Natural History was a big excursion for us. We actually spent a weekend in town, going to several museums. I was young at the time, but I still remember the dinosaur exhibit vividly. It was one of the most impressive things I had ever seen. Now that I’m shopping for presents for my own kids, I’m surprised to see that the Sesame Street toys have stayed remarkably the same over the years. My dad had really been working a lot on the train sets that weekend, and I had been helping him. He had built a whole additional loop of track, and it was looking pretty good. He was gone, and I wanted to show off his model trains to my friend. Although it would not have been against the rules just to go down and look at them, one thing led to another and soon we were playing. Somehow, we decided that it would be neat to add more train tracks. Unfortunately, we were clumsy little kids. We broke some of his miniatures. I was worried that my dad would kill me! When he got home, I told him the truth. Although he was angry at me and sent me to my room for a while, later he came up. He told me that he was proud of me for being so honest, even though I had disobeyed him.

I use her obsession with the little tykes kitchen to teach her some important lessons. One of them is cleaning up. The little tykes kitchen allows her to make clean up into a game. She gets to put away all of the pots and pans after washing them off in the toy sink. She gets to pretend to be her mom in the little tykes kitchen, talking to her dolls as if they are children. Since she got the little tyke kitchen, she is much more willing to clean up. Part of it has to do with us. We have understood that she enjoys cleaning up as long as it is made into a game. We let her play cleanup, so that she will do her chores. It has worked very well.
