Strangely enough, however, that never materialized and VR headsets vanished for a while. I think it was because of an inherent flaw in the virtual reality headset technology at the time. It was good by for the time, but by it was still kind of boxy. Virtual reality headsets required so much processing power to calculate the three-dimensional world around you that the graphics were often pretty rudimentary. Movement could be slow and awkward, and virtual reality games had nothing but a little bit of novelty going for them.

There is a group of gamers that want to stage the largest networked game of Stomp the Monsters ever held to get into the Guinness book of world records. They already have the event published in a list of Missouri tourism events that has copies in all the rest stops and welcome centers across the state. They are hoping to attract at least a thousand gamers from across the nations and all that they are asking you to bring is your computer with a network card of some type installed. The plan is to play two versions of the game when the maximum number of people are online. The first version will be team sports with fifty teams of twenty players each. The second version is going to be an every man for himself game. The winners of the team event are all going to receive a copy of the game with full access to all updates and future releases and the winner of the single event will receive that plus a fully loaded up to date system to play it on. The sponsors are hoping to preregister as many people as soon as possible so that they can plan the layout of the network.

I have always loved playing role playing games since I was very young. Recently, online role playing games have made the genre quite popular, but it was not always this way. Back in the day, if you played Dungeons & Dragons you were instantly labeled as a total geek. People would not even talk to you - that is, except your Dungeons & Dragons friends. Nowadays, there are tens of thousands of people who play online adventure role playing games, but aback in the day they would be played by a small group of five or so gathering once a week in someone’s basement.
Online role playing games definitely have a lot going for them that normal, old-fashioned ones did not.

There is a guide put out by the south central Iowa tourism board that actually lists the places where there are game clubs and there are many of them around. Apparently there are clubs where everyone brings their own computers and they hook them all together in one network to play online games. Usually the separate into different groups and the groups play against each other. One that I saw had four five man teams and they were running around (in the game) and destroying each other. The rules don’t allow for any kind of an invincible mode, so anyone can kill anyone. Usually after you are killed you have a certain amount of time and then you are resurrected. Of course you are in the same place where you died and your group has moved on so the number one priority is to find your group and develop any intelligence along the way to help. There is radio communication so you can call your buddies to help you find your way or to deliver the information that you have developed. If the airwaves are dead you are in trouble as that means everyone in your squad is dead, at that point there is no resurrection, you lost.

If you like matching games, Fruit Frenzy is a terrific place to test your skills. The game is very challenging and you’ll be required to move certain pieces from the board before you can move on to the next level. This sounds easy, but add in a timer and you’ve got the recipe for fun.
In order to move the ice cubes off of the board, you’ll need to match up at least three pieces of fruit in a row. They can be matched in rows or in columns. The Super Mario Bros are one of the most recognizable pairs of video game characters ever created by Nintendo. When the first Nintendo came out in the mid 1980’s it was of course a huge success, but not right away. The Super Nintendo Entertainment System really blew me away when if first came out back in the early 1990s. The first Nintendo Entertainment System was amazing and groundbreaking in itself, but when the SNES came out it was really the dawn of the modern era of video games for me. The Sega Genesis and the Turbo Grafix 16 were already out, so the SNES was a fairly late arrival to the third generation of video game consoles, but it was worth the wait. Of the third generation consoles, the SNES was my favorite and I owned all of them. The SNES is the only one of the three I still sometimes play today.

I used to be an arcade nut. I spent most of my time in the local video games hot spots to play the latest fighting, shooting, and racing games. The funniest thing triggered some great old memories of 80s arcade games. Last night I went to a store, a 24-hour convenience one, to get a cigarette lighter and asked for the difference between Bic lighters and Scripto lighters. Unexpectedly the boy on shift was helpful and kind enough to inform me that as per their reputation the Bic works much better.
