Gaming News For Casual Players
One of the fastest growing demographics in the gaming industry is the “Casual Gamer“, a group identified as between 25 – 40 years of age, equally split between men and women who have a reasonably high level of disposable income. These folks are increasingly making up a larger portion of the overall spend in the highly competitive video game market.
The buying habits of this group are causing massive shifts in investment by game developers. A few years back almost all of the focus was on the large developers who were creating the $20m or higher budget epic games. However, with Angry Birds coming along and having sold over 300m copies, it has changed how developers and their publishing partners view the industry.
Less effort is being made to bring out the latest, greatest technology buster for whatever the platform of the day is. Instead, small games are all the rage and they are playable anywhere on mobile phones, laptops and Angry Birds will even run inside the Chrome web browser!
Keep up to date with all the latest video game news and see what’s happening in a part of the entertainment industry bigger than Hollywood!
